Is it confidential?
Yes it is. Except if it's clear that you intend to severely harm yourself. Or if it's clear that you intend to harm someone else. Or if you pose a risk to children.
Do I need to be referred by my GP?
No, it's not necessary to be referred by your GP to make an appointment, although I may ask for your GP's details.
Do I need counselling?
If there are things troubling you, if you're feeling low, if you have questions or doubts or you don't understand your feelings then it's likely that you would benefit from counselling.
How long will I need counselling for?
This will depend on your individual needs, which we can discuss when we meet. Counselling can last from a few months, a year or longer. |

I'm scared?
Undertaking counselling is a daunting process, although one which could ultimately be one of the most important things you do.
What happens if I decide it's not for me?
This is fine. Although it may be useful for us to explore your reasons for wishing to end counselling.
How will it help me?
Through a process involving adequate insight and personal reflection counselling will give you choices in your life. This will allow you to challenge long standing patterns of behaviour and enhance your life.
What makes a good counsellor or therapist?
There's a great deal of theory behind the work, but ultimately the quality of the relationship between client and counsellor is the most important thing. |
